3 Points to success

On monday february 4, the Jazz made a statement to the rest of the NBA on a few different levels. Statement #1: Deron Williams is an all-star. Deron Williams slapped "all star" Chris Paul in the face by totally outplaying him again. The Jazz have been criticized ever since they picked D-Will over Chris Paul a few years ago. Williams was snubbed again from being selected to the all-star team. It is extremely hard especially in the western conference to make the team at guard. Steve Nash who has won the MVP of the NBA twice barely got in on the reserve squad this year, so that shows the measure of difficulty. It probably didn't hurt Paul that his team had the best record in the west at the time of all-star selections. If the Jazz had won a few of those games in december when they lost 7 in a row, many of which they were leading in the 4th quarter, D-Will would be on the all star team. D-Will scored 29 points by making 11 out of 13 shots. He also dished out 11 assists. Chris Paul only scored 6 points, had 6 assists and 5 turnovers.

Statement #2: the Jazz are now an all around scoring threat. The Jazz led by Kyle Korver made a franchise record 14 3-point shots in the game. In the 2nd quarter Korver made four consecutive 3-pointers in a row, then D-Will hit one, and not to be outdone, Memo Okur nailed one. Their scoring was thus made up of 6 straight 3-point shots! It was one of the best memories I have ever had watching the Jazz. Korver is playing so much better than Giricek could even imagine. This trade seems so much like the one the Jazz made way back in the day when they brought Jeff Hornacek, also from the 76ers over to take the team to a new level.

Overall, the Jazz made a huge statement thrashing the Hornets 110 to 88. They outscored them in every quarter, played with passion and lets hope this 9 straight victories is extended to 10 tonight as they will face the Denver Nuggets, who blew them out a couple weeks ago. Go Jazz!
